Formation of the Wightmans Grove Conservancy  District

Wightman's Grove Conservancy District was formed pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Chapter 6101, on October 22, 1986.  An official plan for improvements and maintenance for which the District was created was prepared by the United States Army Corp of Engineers and constructed under their supervision.  

The Wightman's Grove flood protection project was completed in September 1988 under the Advanced Measures Program authorized by Public Law 84-99.  The project was designed and constructed under the supervision of the Corps of Engineers and was transferred to the Wightman's Grove Conservancy District which was formed pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Chapter 6101, on October 22, 1986 , for operations, maintenance, repair, drainage, aquatic restoration, flood emergency plans and control of wake zones in the Sandusky River.

The Wightman's Grove Conservancy District is in Sandusky County, Ohio on the Sandusky River approximately 3 miles upstream from the Sandusky Bay. It has approximately 5,910 linear feet (LF) of dike flood protection protecting approximately 18 acres of residential properties.
